We are the church for the picturesque village of Westmill, the hamlet of Cherry Green, and all the farms and outlying houses in the parish.
St. Mary The Virgin Church, Westmill
Westmill is a friendly, Eucharistically-focused church, rooted deeply in our local community. We are inclusive, welcoming to anyone who wishes to join us for worship.

Westmill is a friendly, Eucharistically-focused church, rooted deeply in our local community. We are inclusive, welcoming to anyone who wishes to join us for worship.
Our simplified pattern of services during the current Interregnum is a 9.30 am Sung Eucharist on the first and third Sundays of the month and a Benefice-wide Holy Communion on the fourth Sunday which rotates around the three churches, at 10.00 am.
The Rectorship of the United Benefice of St Mary’s Aspenden, St Peter’s Buntingford and St Mary the Virgin Westmill is currently vacant.
Whether you are visiting Westmill, or live in the area, we would love to give you a very warm welcome. Please do either just turn up, or contact us.
We have a beautiful and historic building, and our nave shows a good example of Saxon “long and short stonework”. We have six historic bells, including the oldest ringing bell in Hertfordshire which dates back to 1350.

Our church is usually left unlocked during daylight hours, so please do come and visit, and whilst you are visiting please do take time to say a prayer and leave a note in our visitor’s book. The US President Herbert Hoover traced his ancestry back to Francis Wyman and his wife Elizabeth. They emigrated from the village in 1636 and would have been married in our church!
